Position Overview:
This position can perform all routine tasks of a plant engineer such as planning, initiating and managing routine maintenance and projects to improve and maintain the assigned plant area.  Incumbents need to be fully self-sufficient when initiating suggestions for plant improvements in respect to the process, new equipment or equipment differing from original specifications, etc.  Can provide accurate material, labor and engineering estimates on small and large (up to 3,000 TUSD) projects. Ensures successful completion of documentation for maintenance activities, technical changes and projects under his management.  Participates in planning, scheduling and execution of work within assigned production area.  Participates in planning the repair and maintenance budget and the capital investment budget, monitors and controls the costs for activities in area of responsibility.  Oversees small groups of maintenance personnel used for maintenance and project work. Performs quality checks.  Supports and upholds all HACCP,ISO 9001/14001, and RC14001 policies.  Additionally, this position will also more broadly support the plant by providing the technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve the process plants in order to minimize cost, to insure the technical means for safe operation and high product quality and to guarantee the desired technical plant availability. 

 

Principal Accountabilities Required By The Job:

  1. Providing input in the direction for project initiatives (both CapExp and maintenance), resourcing, and budgeting.
  2. Ensuring the continual improvement, development, and compliance of capital project management guidelines and procedures.
  3. Identify, initiate, and carryout technical changes and improvements in plant efficiency, throughput, new projects, and documentation of changes.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education or Equivalent experience:

  1. Minimum of B.S. or equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering of industrial fermentation or similar processes.

 

Specialized Knowledge and/or Skill:

  1. Proven ability to develop and execute large and small project scopes as a project manager within the plant (up to $ 5,000 TUSD).
  2. Able to understand and do complex process calculation, develop processes (new and existing), and support with process troubleshooting.
  3. Knowledge and experience in using financial tools for cost control and budgetary purposes.

 

Additional Qualifications:

  1. Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
  2. Excellent Problem Solving Skills.
  3. Ability to supervise and develop others.
